The Christmas miracles continue... Every baby wakes up on a festive morning from the tender kisses of beloved parents, hearing warm greetings and sorting out colorful presents under a decorated Christmas tree... But there is another reality... There are children whose lives have no mom's kisses, dad's hugs, and no rooms of their own...…
SOPHIA SIDOROVA IS ONE OF THE MANY CHILDREN WHOSE LIFE WAS SAVED THANKS TO THE COORDINATED WORK OF THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH OF THE DNR, THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION, AND THE DMITRY ROGACHEV CENTER IN MOSCOW.
Sofia cannot speak - stitches and a titanium plate that replaces her removed lower jaw prevent her from speaking. Surgical scalpel sharp blade divided the life of 14-year-old girl to before and after:
"They removed everything, both her teeth and her jaw from below," cries Sonia's mother.
"Just at one point she had a toothache. Our Lugansk dentists sent us to the maxillofacial department in Donetsk, they took our first biopsy, all 4 of them. All 4 samples of our biopsy were examined in the laboratory of Dmitriy Rogachev Clinic. The preliminary diagnoses ranged from osteomyelitis to sarcoma. During the time we were waiting for the diagnosis Sophia was rapidly getting worse. We were urgently admitted to the clinic of Dmitrie Rogochev in Moscow. Two weeks ago they performed an operation removing a part of the bone from her foot and implanting it into her jaw. Now she is walking with difficulties, she is limping. We eat only through the tube, there is no other way, the food just pours out through her mouth... We are working with Sonya's psychologist, she saw herself in the mirror after the operation and her psyche failed. She has 2 months to wait for the results of the biopsy, there are 4 more surgeries ahead, and it's likely chemotherapy...".
Sonya and Elena Sidorovs came to Moscow from a small town near Lugansk. Their modest savings didn't last long... More expensive enteral feeding is what Sonya needs right now, she doesn't have anything to chew...
Thanks to the help of our friend from Belgium, Yves Vanroy, we were able to provide Sonya with food, as well as with accommodation for the post-operating period.
