Sonia's mom writes: Good afternoon, everyone! For the first time in 5 months the doctors let us go home for the weekend! I am afraid even to say it out loud, so as not to jinx it: Now my little girl is in remission. Sonya feels well, but her lab results are not good. Her white blood cell count is very low and this prevents us from starting…
There are no borders or distances for a good soul.
Do you know what the seriously ill children of Donbass and Belgium have in common? We know exactly - one person and his huge heart. Our friend and philanthropist Yves Vanroy not just empathizes with the hard fate of the children of Donetsk region, but also takes an active part in their rescue!
It's no secret that timely diagnosis and timely treatment is half the battle of success. Especially, when the question is about cancer! Yves Vanroy understands this like no one else. To be there when the diagnosis is made and to give a helping hand to a family whose child needs expensive medication, thanks to the support of Yves Vanroy, we can do just that.
This month, thanks to our friend, we were able to help nine children with urgent needs.
For four children we were able to pay for transportation and immunohistochemical studies of bone marrow punctures, as well as biopsy materials in specialized Moscow clinics - Dmitriy Rogachev Center and Pirogov Russian Children's Clinical Hospital, which enabled us to accurately diagnose and determine the most effective treatment strategy:
- Veronika Dushechkina was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Luckily, they were able to differentiate its type and degree of malignancy. The girl has already started the first block of chemotherapy.
- For Sophija Kulikova the diagnosis of light cell sarcoma was made possible after the examination of the removed kidney. Sonyechka has already undergone several courses of chemotherapy.
- Diana Lavrova has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, HLA typing (to identify a potential bone marrow donor) was the first step toward a life-saving transplant.
- Darina Prikhodko was admitted to the department of oncohematology with a severe form of aplastic anemia. We were able to determine treatment options and stabilize the girl's condition thanks to timely immunological and histochemical studies.
For five children we were able to buy expensive and life-saving drugs:
- For Veronika Dushechkina anti-tumor drugs were purchased for the first block of chemotherapy.
- Kira Zagreba and Lisa Nasirova have the same diagnosis - myeloblastic leukemia. Zavedos is the main drug in the protocol of polio-chemotherapy for both girls.
- Karim Chayka - purchase of expensive immunomodulators - Enplate and Octagam
We paid travel expenses to the place of treatment and accommodation for three children: - we were able to pay for enteral feeding and accommodation in Moscow for Sophia Sidorova during the postoperative period
- Sasha Kasyanova came to Blokhin Oncologic Center to undergo contracycline treatment of rhabdomyosarcoma.
- After the main blocks of chemotherapy in Donetsk for Sonya Kulikova treatment of light cell sarcoma will continue in Moscow. Sonya went to the clinic of Dmitri Rogachov for radiotherapy.
We also managed to provide two Donetsk oncology departments with the necessary disposable materials (biopsy needles, catheterization systems, hemostatic and surgical materials).
Thanks to our friend Yves Vanroy we were able to help 9 seriously ill children in Donbass.
Such an impressive support gives us hope and confidence that together we will be able to save many little lives.
