The kidney had to be removed, otherwise the cancer would have affected other organs of little Sofia as well

I couldn't even associate my little girl's enlarged tummy with anything serious," recalls the mother of two-year-old Sofia Kulikova. The lump that doctors found in Sonya turned out to be a rapidly growing tumor. Even in their darkest dreams, Sofia's parents could not imagine that the cancer would threaten the life of their beloved little girl. Within days, the family's life turned into a real nightmare. Light cell sarcoma of the kidney, stage 2, high risk group - that's the full diagnosis for Sonia. The affected kidney had to be removed.
I prayed so much that there would be no metastases. I prayed that she would live, even with only one kidney.
Sonya has already undergone several blocks of chemotherapy at the first surgery department of the RDKB in Donetsk, a course of radiation therapy in Moscow.
"It was scary. Very scared. At the very beginning. And now every block is difficult for us - all the tests drop, Sonya becomes cranky and lethargic. It's hard to get used to it - cancer is unpredictable and leaves us no choice but to collect her will into fist and fight for her child's life... My Sonya is so little, so defenseless. She has seen so much... But our treatment has only just begun - we have already had 4 blocks of chemotherapy, the rest are 8. We believe in good things! We'll finish the treatment and go home, and we'll leave this horror behind us...I wish I could...".

Cancer leaves no chance and leaves no mercy... This executioner ruthlessly bursts into a carefree childhood, bringing fear, pain and horror. Children with cancer find themselves in another world, on the other side of our usual and calm world, where everyone has his own life ... It's in our power to erase that boundary and give a hand to a child, whose life has become synonymous with the word "PEACE" ...
