Every child who passed away is a wound in our hearts that has not healed to this day. And during the foundation's existence we have many of them. It is a nagging pain that is with us forever. Death has taken our children when we least expected it. But in moments of loss, we are sure to have a new little life that needs our help. That is how,…
Masha dreamed of flying over the circus dome and was rapidly moving toward her dream, attending the circus club. She easily succumbed to twine and other gymnastic figures, and nothing foretold trouble. After a routine vaccination, Mashenka's joints became inflamed.
After a thorough examination, the girl was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic variant (a rare pathology, which is one of the most common causes of physical disability in childhood).
All my dreams and plans for my circus career crumbled in an instant.
In the Donetsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital a long and hard road of treatment began. The girl's legs were taken away, her whole body was twisting, and she could hardly stand all the tortures that came with treatment. Because of the long period of taking hormones Mashenka gained a lot of weight, which put additional strain on her inflamed joints. And the sudden death of her father had a great effect on the girl's psychological state, and the stress she endured made her withdrawn. The last blow for Olga, Mashenka's mother, was the appointment of the drug "Actemra", preparation which costs 100 000 rubles per bottle, without regular introduction of which Mashenka's life could crash at any moment.
Thanks to help of our Belgian friend Yves Vanroy, our foundation bought this medicine for Masha. However, 100 000 roubles a month is an unaffordable amount for Masha's mother.
