mucoviscidosisShare in soc. networks:
Artyomka was hooked up to oxygen right in the delivery room. He didn't even scream.
So many doctors gathered around him that I just caught a glimpse of my son and he was immediately taken to the intensive care unit.
And at 4 a.m. I was told that we were urgently transferred to surgery for the operation. Tom was found to have a complete bowel obstruction and the absence of the rectum.
I was horrified - my whole pregnancy was going great and the ultrasound scan was good! We were airlifted to the RDKB in Donetsk. An hour later Artem was already on the operating table. They removed a part of his intestines. Temushka spent two weeks in intensive care. On the 16th day I was finally able to take my son in my arms for the first time. I took him and was horrified, all his arms/feet were covered with puncture marks and there was a huge scar on his belly. And every time he was touched he shuddered, my poor baby, he was probably waiting for more pain. I thought the worst was over. But ahead of us...
The screening showed the defective genes which were the cause of my son's severe intestinal pathology. I heard the word "mucoviscidosis" for the first time. What I read on the Internet, I was shocked: there are several forms of this disease. Only a detailed genetic analysis can show which one we have. It is not performed in Donetsk. Mucoviscidosis cannot be cured, and its longevity depends on a correctly chosen therapy. I cried for several hours. My husband reacted firmly to the news: let's save Tomka!
We need to do the sequencing of the CFTR gene. This study will show what form of mucoviscidosis Artem has. None of the laboratories in Donetsk conduct it. We urgently need to take him to Russia to undergo this analysis. Because of the pathology Subject does not absorb the usual formulas, only specialized hypercaloric adapted food. And, of course, it is necessary to take a number of medicines. During the entire period of treatment we are exhausted financially and we ask for people who care about us to help save our newborn son.
We are collecting money to pay for examinations, nutritional supplements and medicines.
