"Mom, it's hell" was the first thing Diana Lavrova's mother heard after the girl was transferred from the ICU back to the oncology ward.
"It all started the day Diana fainted for the first time at home. Like any mother, I sounded the alarm. In the hospital where we live we were diagnosed with anemia and we were sent for examination to Donetsk oncohematology. That's where we stayed. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia - a diagnosis that instantly ruined everything.
"The first block of chemotherapy and its complications nearly killed our baby girl. Her intestines suffered a lot. From the very beginning of the treatment our treatment was a continuous nightmare - after the first blood sampling Diana fainted, right after the introduction of chemo she got such a strong pain in the tummy, that my child went into shock for several hours ... Can you imagine? The baby's body just could not cope with the pain ... God, it's a horrible picture ... And then there was the intensive care unit. I had never been so scared - your child was suffering behind closed doors, and there was nothing you could do to help. I will never forget those horrible two days while she was there. Now we are back in the department of oncohematology - Diana cannot eat or drink, she has difficulty speaking... She is being treated with large doses of antibiotics, 24-hour blood transfusions... As a complication she got diabetes. Insulin is injected... My God, this is just the beginning of treatment... Before you face all this horror, it seems that the cancer will never touch your family.
I look at my little girl and my heart sinks. My strong girl-- when her hair started falling out, she said, "I want to cut it off. All of it." My baby has grown up too fast... I can't lie to her and tell her it will be over soon and we'll go home. Diana understands already. She understands the seriousness of the diagnosis, she understands why she is chained to an IV and why she had to shave her hair. Diana knows that there is a lot of healing to do...And when I start to cry she says one thing, "Mama, I can do it! Just don't cry..."

Diana Lavrova's news from 11.09.20.
Mom writes:

"Good afternoon, our helpers! I want to tell you our news. My daughter has finished the first stage of treatment. I can't believe we made that first, hard step. It was hard and scary, especially when the chemo gave us stomach complications. Diana was in a lot of pain!
The other day she had all the tests done. Now Diana and I are waiting for the results so we can begin the next stage of treatment - we are going to have a high dose chemotherapy. I am afraid to imagine what lies ahead. I am praying to Our Lady and asking her for strength for my baby girl!!! Please, don't turn away from us, you good people. We can't do this alone, we can't...

The test we sent to the clinic in Moscow showed that Thank God Diana's bone marrow is responding to the treatment! I can't help but be happy!

Diana Lavrova's news from 21.09.20.
Writes mother:
"Right now my little girl continues to fight for her life... Last week Diana began her fourth week of treatment. Once a week my little star is put on a round-the-clock Cytozar drip. It is a long and exhausting procedure.
Diana only went through one. I breathed a sigh of relief. I thought that there was a whole week of rest for my daughter's body. But the next morning my little joy of Diana's "achievements" was replaced by a shock, mixed with horror! The test results of my little girl were practically zero! Thanks to our doctors who told us that this is a normal reaction of an exhausted child's body to high dose chemo drugs. Tomorrow we are scheduled to have a transfusion of donor blood. This is necessary in order to raise Diana's blood count a little, but at least a little.

My little girl is feeling well, we communicate a lot and we take our minds off the daily hospital routine by creating art. Of course, I can see in her eyes

News from 24.10.20.

Diana Lavrova once again impresses us with her sincere belief in defeating cancer. The girl is already finishing the last block of the first treatment protocol. She is waiting for the long awaited two weeks break! She stayed in the oncology ward for two months! She will gain strength, because in the future she will have the difficult II treatment protocol, which begins with the administration of high dose chemotherapy.
Despite the fact that Diana's bone marrow responds well to the treatment, Moscow specialists are considering the possibility of performing a bone marrow transplant. More precise information will be provided after Diana completes II protocol.

Diana is not discouraged. She is happy to work and create, which distracts her from her "sick" routine.
Diana's mother tearfully shared with us: "My strong girl is doing very well! She surprises me every day: she hugs me tenderly and says "Don't be afraid for me, Mommy, I can't be defeated by cancer! I will live!"... And I get goosebumps... I pray to Our Lady and believe that everything will be just as Diana says!".
